"You're not getting sick" tea
/When I was a child, I couldn't say home from school unless: 1.) I was puking. 2.) I was bleeding profusely. This philosophy has helped me with some pretty decent mental toughness when it comes to getting sick. I'm not getting sick. I don't get sick. I just can't.
I've come to learn that it is better to prevent illness. Eat well, exercise, sleep hard, wash your hands. We know these things. But, for those days when I feel like I might be coming down with something (I'm probably not- but just in case :) I drink tea.
This is no ordinary tea. It's a little intense... but trust me, it's what you need. The ingredients are simple- they all have immune boosting properties, and you probably already have them in your cupboard:
1 lemon, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, honey to taste, 2 cloves garlic- smashed, 1 inch piece of ginger root- peeled and grated.
Squeeze the lemons into a quart jar or pyrex measuring cup (don't worry about the seeds, you're going to strain it later), also add the smashed garlic, grated ginger, and cayenne. Pour 4 cups of boiling water in, cover, and let steep at least 10 minutes.
Then, pour it through a strainer and into your cup. Sweeten with honey (it's good for a sore throat and cough).
