the best kind of rainy day

Rainy day01

Its been a bit soggy here for a couple of days.  Uncharacteristically so.  I admit it was starting to bring me down somewhat.  Especially when a rainy day for me means hair that looks like this:

I don't even bother trying to straighten it...impossible.

Things started looking up when our dear friends called and invited us to make homemade donuts with them.

It sounded delightful and so we threw together a cheery little gift to take with us...a home grown butternut squash stuffed into a homemade bag.

(pattern slightly altered from Lotta's book.  I added a lining and another fabric strip on the top for more color.  Canvas on the bottom and for straps)

The donuts were delicious...who knew it was so easy to make them?  We used this recipe. Lots of oil and frying- but good! We sprinkled them in cinnamon and sugar.  Heavy on the sprinkling :)

After that the back yard beckoned and we had a brief moment of dry skies.

Back inside we experimented with some apple painting.

Cute huh?  Inspiration here.

It was the best kind of rainy day!

This homeschooling gig has really taken a toll on this little blog o' mine.  Thank you for continuing to check in on us and for leaving your lovely thoughts behind.  I just love reading your comments- please, please, please forgive me for not replying more often.  I would like to sit down somewhere comfy and sip frothy drinks (I was thinking coffee :) with each one of you. But alas, I know that this is not likely mostly because you are there and I am here.  But just thinking of you makes me feel cozy! That'll have to do for now I guess.  Cheerio!
