Sunday Sewing

 

I spent the entire afternoon in my little sewing corner.  Nothing much to show for it, but it was wonderful.  Hope you found the time to do something you love over the weekend.

new season = new bag

 

I made this little bag over the weekend.  So far, I like it.  My last bag was huge- big enough for a wide brimmed hat, magazines, sunscreen, sack lunches, and the occasional beach towel.  When I emptied it there was sand in the bottom. It was definitely time to scale things down a bit for Fall.  Most trips out of the house do not last all day as did our outings during the Summer months.

 

I used the pattern/tutorial over at creative little daisy (scroll down).  It was very simple and easy to understand.  And my shoulder thanks me!

Chair problem fixed.

Taking color inspiration from Morgan I snazzed up the chairs at our school table.  The original thought was to replace the vinyl on the seats with some really cute oil cloth.  As I thought about ripping out all those staples and then considered the "skin-sticking-to-the-seat" factor of oil cloth- I changed my mind.  Instead I made a little skirt that can easily be removed and washed.  It really was super easy once I figured out how and what to measure.  I just took the length and width of the actual seat and added seam allowances, then measured around the legs to get the skirt length.  I multiplied the total length of the skirt by 1.5 and gathered it to get the fullness.
