I really love what I do.  I love being a doula.  Just this morning my hands were one of the first to touch baby Taelynn.  My ears heard her first cries. I watched a Mother in her strongest, most valiant moment give birth to her first baby.  I watched a family be born.

But, I also have my own little family to nuture.  I have responsibilites at home.  For the past two weeks I have really been thinking about balance.  How can I do all that I do?  How can I do all that I do WELL? I have had to make some difficult mental adjustments in this area.  I am coming to realize that there is great value in being organized, obedient, and open to

not chores or burdens, but opportunities to bless, creating an environment where relationships can grow and deepen. even seemingly insignificant things like folding socks and putting them away is a hugh blessing to my children

not monotony and drudgery, but walking through each day with peace

Sun on my face2009-01-25

The sun came back...and just in time.  We almost lost faith that it was still up there somewhere.

We've also had a few sick days around here.  Nothing major, just a few ear aches and sniffles.

We worked up the strength to do some crafting, because really how many episodes of The Andy Griffith show can you watch back to back?

Called in last night at 11:20pm (twenty minutes after I had drifted off to sleep- classic :)  Home 12 hours later.  I've been having some bad birth mojo. The last few mamas have had it rough.  I would really like someone to just have a sweet simple birth.   Simple!  Ha! That is a ridiculous word combo- simple birth.

I was able to wear my Christmas present from the Midwives for the first time today.  They picked the blue to go with my watch and shoes which I had first. Women are so great for thinking through little details like that!  My husband said that I looked like Papa Smurf.  I don't remember asking his opinion.

Ramen lunch2009-01-22

Top Ramen for lunch (I know...not the healthiest choice, but coming up with something more creative probably would have fried my last few remaining brain cells.)  It actually tasted really good.  So, now all that is left is a long nap.  Maybe I could actually sleep straight through to Monday!

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....
